It was just days ago that Americans were opening up for turkey, so it makes sense that this week Turkey is opening up for Americans and our warplanes. Well, that’s what they told us anyway, but only if we get permission to declare war on Iraq. Okie doke, who wants dark meat? The situation in the Gulf is beginning to resemble childhood battles over the rules of the sandbox. Except this time the sand box is much larger and the ominous things lurking beneath the sand are land mines – not cat turds. Hey, half of one, six-dozen of the other. Sure, we could get together to condemn the puppet regime that threatens democracy throughout the world . . . but instead of talking about George W. Bush, perhaps you’d prefer to see DAVID ROBINSON performing LIVE at Stand-Up New York (236 78th St. [at Broadway], NYC 10024 – 212-595-0850) on Monday, December 9th at 8:30PM!

Seems like these days ‘Holiday Spirit’ translates to complaining about how commercialized the holidays have become. This year at the big Casa Blanca down in D.C., they’re celebrating the holidays as the preceding generation has taught them – by sending U.N. weapons inspectors into Iraq. And as we all know by now, if the inspectors find chemical, biological or nuclear weapons we get six more weeks of winter. We can only assume that like our parents, the President’s father just wants his son to have the things that he never had. Like, for instance, a second term.

Now, I never promised you the Rose Garden or the White House that stands before the garden, but I do offer you the gift of laughter. I call it a gift because if you call Stand-Up New York (236 78th St. [at Broadway], NYC 10024 – 212-595-0850) with your table reservation between Friday, December 6th and Sunday, December 8th and tell them you’re coming to see David Robinson on Monday the 9th, you get in for free! Though there is a two-item-minimum (food/food, food/drink, drink/drink, sponge/bob, square/pants . . . no, wait, it’s just food and drink) this is still much cheaper than the plane ticket to come out to L.A. to see me in the clubs where I normally perform (like the Improv on 12/18, but I digress) where you would still be required to order minimum amounts of food and drink as well as paying a cover.

Aside from tooting my own horn (hey, if I could do that, I’d never leave the house . . .) there are several other ‘big names’ performing that evening – the types of people you’d be happy to pay to see – and you’ll be able to catch them performing on the same stage as me, David Robinson at Stand-Up New York (236 78th St. [at Broadway], NYC 10024 – 212-595-0850) on Monday, December 9th at 8:30PM!
If you don’t want to come to the show because you saw me at Stand-Up New York this past May, I assure you that you’re making a big mistake. Because this show (on Monday, December 9th at 8:30PM) will feature all new material! New facial hair configurations! And another fine musical number to end the set! And I’m not talking about a rehashed version of the same old song like some other comedians with animated holiday films currently in theaters (you know who you are “Frida Kahlo” . . .) Actually, it may be the same musical number . . . got to give the people what they want. And you get to be one of those people who gets what they want! But only if you’ve called in your reservation to see DAVID ROBINSON at Stand-Up New York (236 78th St. [at Broadway], NYC 10024 – 212-595-0850) on Monday, December 9th at 8:30PM!

If you thought “Miracle On 34th St.” was wonderful and “It’s a Wonderful Life” was miraculous, it’s time to come back to reality and groove to the heartfelt yet strangely bitter comedy of David Robinson this coming Monday, December 9th at 8:30PM at Stand-Up New York (236 78th St. [at Broadway], NYC 10024 – 212-595-0850)! This holiday season treat yourself to great comedy! Ho ho ho indeed.
Forward this e-mail to anyone you know in the NYC area who loves great comedy – especially if they’re in a position to give me great sums of cash for spreading the humor!
